The inspiration for this large landscape was a smaller plein air painting Blustery Day 12 x 16″. I needed to find a canvas/ mdf size to match the 12 x 16″ but bigger, 18 x 24″ was a good size. I started by sketching in the basic shapes on the 18 x 24″ in the studio, but I didn’t like the clouds coming in from the left on Blustery Day so I decided to have the white clouds peeking over the grey in Devon Pasture. The cows were made smaller and the sky is large, so this gives the picture a sense of scale. This painting is for sale in the SHOP
